April 5 - No Neutral Position

Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. One characteristic of this small nation is their declaration of neutrality in world affairs. When a country is to be war-free, people like to put their money into Swiss banks, boosting their monetary reserves. The idea of neutrality seems to be working there but not in the Kingdom of God.

Jesus made a declaration: “Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters.” It is for or against, it is gathering or scattering, there is nothing in between. It is either the Kingdom of Heaven or the kingdom of Satan. It is either casting out demons by the power of Beelzebul or by the finger of God. It is either the strong man or the one stronger than he. The whole discourse has one central point: we have to make a decision to go one way or the other. We cannot choose God and Satan at the same time. There is no neutral zone.

God gave His people a choice, choose Him or choose other idols. By choosing God, the people would have all the blessings promised in the law. They did not have to ask for blessings, blessings would catch up with them and come to them automatically because of their choice made. Things would go well with them, they would be blessed going out and coming in. Their storehouses and barns would be full to overflowing, all because they had obeyed God.

On the other hand, if they did not choose God, or did not obey God’s commands, they would be cursed. Once they got out of God’s covering, they would not experience any blessing. They would be defeated and serve other nations. There would be sicknesses in their body and mind, physical and mental illnesses would be upon them. Their land would also be cursed with drought and famine. Their lives would be filled with anxiety, fear and unrest.

There is no middle ground, one cannot serve God and another at the same time. If God is not the Lord of all, He is not the Lord at all. Those who want to hold on to the world and get the best of both worlds will end in despair and destruction. No one can stay on the fence and be blessed. Everyone must make a choice to choose God or not. If you are in the Kingdom of God, God will be your Master. If you are outside of this Kingdom, Satan will become your master. The choice is yours.

You may not be good in making decisions, but this one you must make. You cannot be in two kingdoms at the same time. Do not be fooled, confessing Christ while living like unbelievers is a sure sign that you have not gone to God’s side. Are you on the right side today? Make adjustments in your life so that you are completely over.
