September 12 - The Trinity in Isaiah

The reality of the Trinity is clearly demonstrated in the Book of Isaiah and especially in chapter 11. Here we see the prophecy concerning the Messiah, the Son; the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit; and the Lord, the Father. Each of them has their unique role in carrying out the plan of God for the world.

Jesus Christ, the Messiah is to rule over the world. He came like a shoot from the stump of Jesse, as a descendant of David. He is like a branch from the roots of Jesse bearing fruit. The Messiah comes to rule and to judge the earth. He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and with the breath of His lips He shall kill the wicked. Ruling the earth with righteousness and faithfulness, he is to introduce a rule of peace in the world. His Kingdom will be one where the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. What a succinct summary of Christ’s Millennial Kingdom also foretold in the Book of Revelation.

The rule of the Messiah is to be empowered by the Spirit of the Lord. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father, resting upon the Messiah. He is the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. In the Millennial Kingdom, the Holy Spirit will fill the Messiah with wisdom and might so that He can rule the earth with the fear of the Lord. As a result, the wicked are wiped out and the rule of peace could be realized for the earth shall be filled of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. The root of Jesse shall stand as a signal for the peoples. The nations will inquire of Him and His resting place shall be glorious.

The Father also takes part at this juncture, extending His hand a second time to recover the remnant of His people from all over the world. He shall assemble the banished of Israel and the dispersed of Judah. The nation of Israel will become the Lord’s as foretold in the Book of Romans by the apostle Paul. Like a repeat of the Exodus, the Lord is to bring His people out of Assyria on a highway, defeating their enemies like when they went out of Egypt.

Our God is an awesome God of Trinity, three in one. Although of three Persons, but they are One. Each Person works with the other Two in perfect harmony, fulfilling the purpose of God for the ages. Do you realize that whatever we do, we do it in the name of Jesus, by the power of the Spirit for the glory of the Father? Pause now and give thanks to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Through their different roles, you have received salvation, the fullness of life and life eternal. Praise God now for who He is and what He has done for you.
