October 16 - God’s Plan for Your Life

We all have some kind of plans for our lives. Many have carefully planned for the rest of their lives in an effort to fulfill their own wishes and aspirations. Not too many are aware of the plan of God for their lives. The Israelites in the time of Jeremiah had seen their own plans thrown out of the window as many of them would be exiled and brought into another country. Because of war and famine in the land, their original plans did not have a chance to come to fruition. This was the time when the prophet Jeremiah told them about God’s plan for them.

God declared to them that when seventy years were completed for Babylon, He would visit them and bring them back to their own place. Then He said, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God knows the plans He has for you. Plans can also be translated into thoughts for God has many thoughts for us. We need to go into His thinking and know what His plans for us may be. Our own plans are generated from our own thinking but we must have the mind of Christ when we make plans for our own lives.

The plans of God direct us away from evil while giving us welfare and goodness. When we are in the plans of God, we will have a future and a hope. The unknown future is much less threatening when you know that you are in God’s will and plans. They are also the bases of God’s blessings to His children, the obedient ones will reap more benefits than those who have chosen to go with their own plans. The key to life’s success is to be in God’s plans and not our own.

The way to know His plans for your life is to call upon God, to ask Him and pray to Him. As God will hear our prayers, He will then speak to us about our lives. If we seek God with all our heart, we will find Him and His will. Once we find God’s plans for us and we make them our own, God will restore our fortunes and bring us on the right track. Your life would never be the same. Getting close to God, hearing His voice are so vital in the search for your life plans.

I have seen many counselors guiding others to find their own destinies apart from listening to God. They just look at their own strengths and weaknesses to come up with a life map for themselves. Although this is better than not having a life goal or plan but when we fail to seek the Lord, we might end up doing our own plans instead of finding out God’s thoughts towards us.

Do you have a life plan? Are you ready to exchange your plans for God’s plans for you? Are you walking in your God-given destiny? Seek Him now.
